Frequently Asked Questions (and their answers)
Do I need to download or install anything?
No, Neomyz RSS Web Reader is hosted on our servers. You do not need to download or install anything. All you need to do is insert a few lines of HTML code into your web page, and you're all set! You do not need to care about technologies supported by your webhost, or about system requirements of RSS Web Reader at all.
Can I use the RSS Web Reader for free?
Yes, the new Free plan allows you to create your own reader for free, and to use it on your website with no time limit. Sign up for a free Neomyz account today to start!
In short, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) allows websites that change content frequently (typically news sites, blogs, etc.) to provide news feeds to anyone interested. Their visitors, who wish to be informed when the site content is updated, can subscribe to any number of these news feeds. This is somewhat similar to the way regular e-mail works, but in this case, each new message contains a headline and a short summary of the message. Once the headline is clicked, you're redirected to the full article or post.
RSS Web Reader allows you to put the latest news directly on your website. Just create your own reader, and select the news feed of your choice. By providing up-to-date content, you're giving your site visitors another reason to check back to your website regularly!
Where can I find interesting news feeds?
The easiest way is to select one of the public news feeds available in our feed directory when creating your RSS Web Reader.
However, it is common for most of the websites today to have their own feed (or feeds). If you're looking for the feed link in your favorite website, search for a small orange or button. Just right click it, select "Copy Shortcut", and paste the URL address of the news feed into the appropriate field when creating or editing your RSS Web Reader. If you can't find it, contact the webmaster to find out if they provide an RSS news feed.
You can also use the specialized search engines to find news feeds of your interest, one of them is www.feedster.com.
Can I switch to another skin after it has been purchased?
Of course you can! When you purchase a subscription, you'll get access to all skins, and you can switch to another skin or choose another news feed as often as you like.
Just sign into you account and select the "My Readers" section to edit your reader. Choose the new skin, save it, and you're done! The reader on your website will automatically use the new skin.
Please note: You will NOT need to change the HTML code in your pages, not even when you change your skin or news feed.
What is the daily view limit?
The number of views counts how many times your reader was actually displayed on your website. The daily view limit depends on your service plan, and when your reader exceeds this limit for a particular day, it will become inactive and a plain-text message will be displayed instead of your reader. Your reader will activate again and display normally the next day. There are no additional charges when the limit is exceeded.
Can I put my reader on multiple websites?
No. When you create your reader, you must enter the exact URL address of the website where your reader will be located. The reader will check this URL address everytime it is loaded, and will only work from this URL. If the URL does not match, an error message will be displayed instead.
This is to protect your reader from unauthorized use on other peoples' websites.
Please note: You can change your reader's URL address anytime you need to move your reader to a different page or to a new website, just edit your reader in the "My Readers" section.
Can I get rid of the "powered by neomyz.com" branding?
Yes. The kind of branding displayed on the bottom of your readers depends on your service plan: in the Free plan, an animated advertisement is displayed on the bottom your readers; in the Bronze and Silver plans, a static "powered by neomyz.com" branding is displayed; in the Gold plan, no branding is used.
Are languages other than English supported?
Yes, Neomyz RSS Web Reader is truly multilingual, as it does not contain any language-dependent buttons or texts. You can choose a news feed in virtually any language.
The Neomyz web site is currently available only in English.
Currently, RSS 0.9x, RSS 1.0 and RSS 2.0 formats are suppored.
